Fall Festival Fun

So Wednesday was the Fall Festival at church and we decided to go.  We tried to get there early because we wanted to make sure we could find a place to park and we knew that we couldn't stay for long. First because I just can't stay on my feet for very long and second because it was sooooo cold, global warming my rear end!
Anyway, we had a great time and I was blessed to see so many people there! We did take our little P&S, but we didn't manage to take many pictures, just a couple before we left, but still we had fun and we look forward to next year when maybe I won't be just coming off a big surgery and maybe it won't be like ten degrees. Here are the pictures that we did manage to get.
We took this picture right before we got in the car to go to church, Like Daughter like Daddy, because she was given her shoes before I got mine!
Unfortunately, we didn't get any at the festival, however, Mrs. Kim had a photo booth and she got a couple, you can see them here: http://kimberlyg.typepad.com/my_weblog/.
While were there she was just looking around trying to take it all in, but when it was time to leave, we must have wore her slam out, I know I was tired, but I think this picture says it all...

Where did those come from?

Pure and simple craziness.  Little M has not one....but two teeth! Ever since they broke through a couple days ago we have been trying to get pictures, but she is not very cooperative and usually sticks her tongue out when we have tried to open her mouth with our fingers.  I was just lucky and got this one yesterday, you can just barely see them, but they are definitely there and I think they are getting bigger every day!  I can let her gnaw on my fingers like I used to anymore, because it sure hurts when she crunches down with her new teeth.  And oh yeah, she isn't even 6 months yet!
I was just thumbing through our pictures and happened upon this one, she obviously isn't as happy in this picture and I think Tiffany might have been the one with the camera, as this was taken either the day we came home or maybe even the day before... I am too tired to look at the exif data to see when it was taken, but anyway, you can see her little chompers in this one too.

Look what I made.

Well the other day when the fabulous Mrs. K took our pictures I complemented her on the strap cover she had.  She said Nancy made it for her, and I think I remember seeing a picture of it on either her blog or Mrs. K's and I thought to myself.....self you can make something like that. It took me a while, but as I am not mobile these days and I get tired of staring at the computer, it is fine, just need to get our sewing machine figured out... I tried to use mama's (she has the same model) when we lived with them, and it gave me fits, but since she is helping me with the baby, I think I will get it out and see if we can make sense of it..
So this is actually the second try at it, the first I didn't take into account the need to leave room for the strap to slide in and out of...but anyway, I am pleased with it and I took it out for a short run this afternoon!

Cakes

When we lived in Louisville, I took the first two Wilton courses at Michaels.  I was actually halfway through the third one when Jeremy got sick. My thought when I started was to be able to make our kids birthday cakes in stead of buying them.  I really enjoyed the classes and made several cakes while we were there for different things.  I have only made a couple since moving back home, for several reasons.  I will have to see if we can find the pictures.  Anyway, a couple of weeks ago, we did four in one week.  Three birthday cakes and one cake to say "thank you".  We decided instead of doing roses, I would experiment with marshmallow fondant.  Jeremy wanted a batman cake, so we decided to do the bat signal from the new batman movies. I think the cakes turned out pretty well.  Here are a couple of pictures:

There's no place like home. . .

We made it back home this afternoon!  Wow, it was nice to finally get back!  Jeremy is doing great.  The doctors were right, this surgery has been much easier than his first one. He is still hurting really bad and I worry that he is going to over do it, because he hates to have to rely on someone to do things for him. The doctors told us that this surgery should not cause a flare-up of his pancreatitis, and so far he hasn't had any problems!  We spent a couple of days in Gainesville before coming back home, to give Jeremy more time to recover before riding in the car that long.  We are so blessed, we had family there who pampered us and helped us in so many ways.  We could definitely feel all of the prayers from our friends and family.  Maggie was wonderful while we were there, but I think she was very happy to be home and able to sleep in her bed again. Taylor kept Cole while we were gone and I think he and Lexie wore Cole out.  As soon as we put his kennel back together, Cole went in and slept (and has stayed in there all night).

We really appreciate all of the emails, comments and phone calls checking on us.  Hopefully it won't take us too long to get back in the swing of things.

Good News, Praise the Lord

GOD is truly of good and worthy of highest praise! The surgery was a definite success according to my wonderful doctors.  They even took away my old scar, not quite sure the benefit of that, but hey at least I don't have two scars, possible benefit? The doctors were well pleased, they even talked about going home tomorrow, which would definitely be good, spent waaaaaaay to much time in the hospital over the past two years as it is!
I want to thank everyone for praying, I can feel the prayer and it sure has made a difference, I have such wonderful friends and I love them all. Please continue to pray and I hope to see everyone soon.  All the glory and praise goes to the Father who is mighty to save!

Surgery Today

Just thought I would post a quick message today as I am in the waiting room, waiting for the doctors to come get me to go to pre-op.  I feel pretty good about this procedure today.  We finally met with the doctor yesterday, long story, but anyway he gave us a pretty good outlook.  So today my spirits are pretty high and the Lord has given us peace.  Hope everyone is doing well and we will update our blog as soon as we know more, or well as soon as we can. Please remember to pray, because we could always use that!  God is truly good.

Nothing is safe. . . .

I got home yesterday and Jeremy kept telling me I needed to see the pictures he took.  I figured he got some with Maggie making some really funny faces (she has been doing this lately).  But no, this is the picture I see. . . .

(This is Cole's favorite toy that he plays with all the time.)  Needless to say, Jeremy told me right away that Maggie did not have this in her mouth when he picked up the camera - and he did take it away from her as soon as he snapped this picture.

The BIG 3-0

That's right today is my birthday and yep I turned 30 this year.  On most days I feel like I am at least twice that age, but that is due to my physical ailments than my general grousing.  Anyway, here I am, actually is not quite yet my birthday as I am writing this blog, I am up because Maggie is on a sleep strike and decided that she can probably do without sleeping, just like she did last night!  Besides sleeping is for babies....
I am trying to decide where I want to eat tomorrow, I have a couple different options I am considering, and for some reason I am usually disappointed when we go out to eat for my birthday.  Two years ago, when we still lived in lovely Louisville, we went early to PF Changs, got right in and our server never came to our table, we sat there for like ten minutes, then we finally got up.  We did manage to get a couple gift certificates out of the ordeal and we did eat at the Cheesecake Factory, so all was not lost! I don't remember what we did last year, but this time last year I wasn't feeling so hot, do maybe I have just repressed that whole section of my life, or at least maybe I would like to...
Oh well enough downers, tomorrow it is up between Uncle Ernie's, PF Changs, and a choice yet to be named... Big fan of Uncle Ernie's and I do so life PF Changs, we tried to go last year, hmmm maybe that is what we did, but they weren't open yet, so we went to CheeseBurger in Paradise, which is great! The one in Destin is not as cool as the one in Indianapolis, but the one here used to be a Pizza Hut. If the weather is nice it will probably be Uncle Ernie's as you can sit outside on their deck and look out at the Bay, if it is hot then another choice would probably be wise.
I am also pretty excited about the Gator game tomorrow, hopefully they will, but it's going to be a toughie I think, unless of course our offense can get something together finally, who knows...
Well it is after 12, so it is officially my birthday, so happy birthday to me, I wish I could report that Maggie was going to sleep, but no such luck, maybe soon, hmm wishful thinking on my part, she is wide awake, at least she is seemingly in a good mood and playing beside me on the floor on her play mat!!
Here is my birthday cake, please excuse the poor quality of the picture, it is late and I didn't feel like fooling with my camera too much and I definitely didn't want to bother with trying to fix it up in post processing, but I plan on posting more about our cakes this next week.

Cereal

When we took Mags to the doctor for her 4 month appointment, our pediatrician told us we could start giving her cereal now.  We decided to wait a while before doing so.  However, after the next three nights of Maggie waking up three and four times a night, we decided to go ahead and start the cereal.  The first night, she didn't like it at all, in fact she started crying after just a couple of bites.  However, that night she slept all night again.  She has gotten better and better eating every night.
